Priority of Prayer

5-6-2016

"My prayer came to you, into your holy temple"-Jonah 2:7

In a sense, prayer is like oxygen for our spirit. It also allows His children to openly communicate and interact with him as His sons and daughters. But sometimes we get so distracted and end up saving prayer for emergencies only, and just try to fix issues ourselves.

God maintains everything while we seem to stumble in many ways. God depends on nothing, while we fully rely on him.

As sermons, fellowship, as there were singing, praising, Jesus knew while these were good and pleasing to God, they were as 'fragrant' and pleasing as prayer was. Prayer should ALWAYS be our priority.

Churches were told that using prayer as an 'add on' to their sermons made it lukewarm, that it would make for lifeless worship, and theynwould be distracted by members who suffer in sinful defeat with superficial fellowship. Everyone needs to "continually devote themselves to prayer" (acts2:42; 6:4).

Everywhere we turn we should be meeting prayer. When you do, results begin increasing regularly. Even scripture says so. The following excerpts to check out are like a sneak preview of what can happen when a church becomes truly devoted to prayer:

Evangelism of the lost: Col.4:3; 1 Tim.2:1-8
Cuktivation of discipleship: Luke11:1-2; John17
True christian fellowship: Acts2:42
Wise decisions: James1:5
Obstacles overcome: Mark11:22-24
Needs met: Matt. 6:11; Luke 11:5-13
True worship ignited: Matt. 6:13; Acts 2:41-47
Revival sparked: 2 Chron. 7:14

Acts 2:41-47 "so then, those who had teciebed his word was baptized; and that day there were added about 3,000 souls. They were continually devoting themselves' to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their properties and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have needed. Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, theybwere taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved."
